Dr. Elva Edwards was born in West Texas and lived on a farm with her parents, grandmother and sister until her parents were killed when she was only 19 months of age. She and her sister fell into the loving arms of their grandparents who moved to the farm to live with them.
Elva attended school in Tahoka, Texas. After high school she attended Baylor University and transferred to Texas Tech University where she graduated in 1972.
After a failed marriage, Elva went to chiropractic school and graduated in 1986. She made Denver, Colorado her home and has been in practice for 30 years. She has authored a book about her experience of healing from the loss of her parents as a child. It is “A Texas Tragedy: Orphaned by Bootleggers” and is available online for purchase.
Based on her book, Dr. Edwards is teaching online classes about “Healing From the Loss of a Parent When You Were a Child.” Death is only one way to lose a parent. Many children feel the loss of their parent for other reasons including:
